Training Workshops

Session 1 | Wednesday, February 7th at 1:00 pm

Finding Volunteers
Bill Allison, Cadre Ministries

We'll explore five practical ways to develop passionate, participating ministry team members.
Plus we'll explore...
* Why volunteers want a mission not just tasks
* How to develop a volunteer "job description" for your ministry
* How NOT to ask volunteers for help
* How to train volunteers to find more volunteers

Can Multiplying Joy Multiply Our Workforce? (will be repeated in Session 2)
Dave Rahn, YFC

As we give our best organizational efforts toward deploying 200,000 leaders in authentic Christ-sharing relationships with a million lost kids, what movement reputation do we need? Our heroic mission efforts among overlooked, underserved and lost 11-19 year olds is a pretty compelling story about what we do. What if the word ‘JOY’ was most descriptive of who we are? Recently completed Yale-funded research let us explore keystone habit training for a 3Story cornerstone: to abide constantly with Jesus. This workshop is the first public presentation of those results and there are pretty cool implications for how YFC Christ-centered leaders can become Prevailing Joy Multipliers in our life and work.

3Story Revistited
Facilitated by Nina Edwards, Teddi Pettee and panel

3Story has been a part of our YFC DNA for 25 years.  Most of us have learned more about abiding, loving always, and inviting others in as we have lived this journey.  But what happens when God seems silent, when the stress of the strat plan tasks take over, when your chapter culture is still more about doing than being?  How we live 3Story out every day affects everyone around us.

Let’s revisit this lifestyle of moving closer to the Father as our first best step to seeing others move closer to him. Our time together includes practical application suggestions and a panel discussion with people who have been changed by this life of being good news while telling stories of the good news

Session 2 | Wednesday, February 7th at 3:00 pm

Retaining Volunteers
Bill Allison, Cadre Ministries

We'll explore seven ways to retain highly effective volunteers.
Plus we'll explore...
* Why volunteers quit leaders and not ministries
* How to encourage volunteers
* How to train volunteers—not just organize them
* The three minute difference

Ministry to the Broken and the Offended (only session)
Jackie Hill-Perry

Throughout his ministry, Jesus encountered a diversity of individuals. But what stands out is how most of the people that Jesus ministered to typically fell into two distinct categories : The offended and The broken. Jesus may have taken slightly different approaches to how he ministered to both but His message did not change. The gospel was the balm for both and it still is today. This workshop will show us why.
